The AUDL’s San Francisco Flamethrowers have signed Cassidy Rasmussen, Ryo Kawaoka, and Sam Kanner, Ultiworld has learned.
Sources close to the situation said that the three players will serve as player-coaches for the Flamethrowers organization and that Matt Tsang, the Flamethrowers’ Director of Player Development, was instrumental in landing the three Revolver players.
Last season, Kawaoka and Rasmussen both served as captains for Revolver and helped lead the team to its third National Championship in four years.
All three players played for MLU’s San Francisco Dogfish in 2013.
The signings confirm what the San Jose Spiders’ Beau Kittredge told Ultiworld in November: that Revolver would be splitting up its talent across multiple semi-professional teams.
Many of Revolver’s top players that played with the Dogfish last season have elected to play in the AUDL this season, although Evan Boucher, the Dogfish’s MVP last year, re-signed with the team last week.
