What Does The NexGen Deal Mean For Ultiworld’s Video Offerings?

A few people have asked me about what is going to happen with Ultiworld’s video presence now that NexGen will have primary rights to the major tournaments. Here’s a quick explanation.

We will continue to be providing high quality coverage of nearly all other major tournaments: this college season’s tournaments, the club season tournaments not being run as part of the Triple Crown Tour, and potentially some semi-pro league games — much of it streaming live.

We are making some exciting upgrades to our video production that should be a welcome sight to those who watched our (admittedly) bare-bones stream from this year. I’m not going to get into the details at the moment, but we have a lot of cool stuff to announce in early 2014.

In regards to the major Championship events, we are talking with USA Ultimate right now about finding a way to offer additional coverage. The economics are a bit tricky because NexGen will have a lot of rights, but I am sure we will come to an agreement.

There are some good prospects for some youth coverage as well at the Youth Club Championships — that is also under discussion with USAU.
